Style & Function: Hot Yoga must-haves
Yoga clothing is more popular than ever and it's not just because it's comfortable. Brands are upping their game when it comes to fit, durability, moisture wicking and style to keep enthusiastic yogis coming back for more. Hot yoga is one of the biggest yoga categories that requires more attention when it comes to clothing. Comfort yes, but tight fitting is a must. Cotton may be the most comfortable thing to wear on the weekends, but when it comes to a hot yoga class it can work against you. Cotton t-shirts, tanks, or pants will soak up all of the guaranteed sweat leaving you with heavy and overstretched clothes at the end. Sports bras for women are a good place to start. For those only practicing in a sports bra there are tons of fun fashions to choose from that are still functional. Some of my current favorite brands are: Chill by Will, CHICHI Active and TLF.
To layer any tops over a sports bra it is best to stick with activewear materials. Clothing made for the heat will not only keep their shape but they will assist in cooling the body once the heat really kicks in. Some of my favorites come from brands like Just Live, Crane & Lion and Track & Bliss.
Finally let's talk about the number one must for hot yoga. The ever famous yoga legging! The length of the pant is a personal preference. Some enjoy crops as they may seem cooler to have more skin exposed. Personally, my vote always lands in the full length category. Thickness and moisture wicking are key here. I love a pant that breathes, cools fast and fits so well that I don't have to worry about tugging and pulling on it during class. With those factors in mind my current favorites come from brands like Teeki, Nualime and Niyama Sol.
